Outstanding Breast Augmentation in Houston
This procedure combines the effects of breast volume enhancement with correction of droopy breasts in order to achieve perkier, more youthful looking breasts.
Description: Breast augmentation is a very gratifying procedure for patients who seek larger breasts or correction of unevenly sized breasts. When the degree of droopiness of the breast is severe, performing a breast augmentation alone may result in a “snoopy”-looking breast. There is volume in the upper part over the breasts but the nipples are low and not sitting where they should. This is less than ideal. Therefore, combining the lift procedure with the augmentation allows for restoration of upper pole volume loss, enhanced projection, and better shaping of the breast, thereby yielding better results. A breast augmentation with lift may allow a patient to fit better in her clothes and improve her body image. There are several types of breast lift procedures: Periareolar, Vertical, and Wise pattern. During your consultation, Dr. Deigni will examine you and discuss in detail which type of breast procedure will benefit you the most and achieve your desired goals.
Periareolar: This procedure attempts to elevate the nipple slightly to correct a mild droop. It is used when there is minimal breast lift needed. The scar is hidden around the nipple areola.
Vertical (lollipop): When there is more than just a slight droop of the nipple, a more extensive lift may be needed. The vertical mastopexy addresses the extra loose skin in the center of the breast to restore a perkier, more youthful looking breast.
Wise pattern (anchor): This procedure is used when there is significant loose skin and nipple drooping. It incorporates the techniques of the periareolar and vertical mastopexy procedures and addresses the extra loose skin in the lateral and medial aspect of the breast. The resulting scar has an inverted T appearance.
Devices: The breast implant can be either silicone-filled or saline-filled. The shell can be smooth or textured and the shape can be round or teardrop. There are several advantages and disadvantages of either implant type, texture, and shape. Dr Deigni will help guide you in this decision process during the consultation.
Surgery: Breast augmentation and lift surgery usually takes about 3-4 hours to complete under general anesthesia. The most common way to augment the breasts is by inserting an implant under the pec muscle using an inframammary fold (IMF) incision. As mentioned previously, the incisions used to lift the nipple will vary depending on the severity of droopiness and amount of excess breast skin.
Recovery: Recovery is 7 – 10 days. Patients are placed in a soft bra with no underwire in order to help support the breasts. Patients may feel tightness in their muscle and skin for a few weeks as they adjust to the breast implants. The implants typically seem high for about 6 – 8 weeks and once the tissues have adapted and relaxed, the implants will settle into a lower more natural position. This process may sometimes take up to 6 months or more.
