Outstanding Breast Augmentation in Houston
Breast augmentation involves enhancing the breast volume and shape by using a saline or silicone implant.
Description: Breast augmentation is a very gratifying procedure for patients who seek larger breasts or correction of unevenly sized breasts. It was the number one procedure performed in the United States in 2017 with 333,392 women electing to have their breasts enlarged. Several advantages include enhanced breast shape and volume, increased cleavage, some degree of breast lift in the presence of mild breast droop. It may also allow a patient to fit better in her clothes and improve her body image. There is no negative impact on breastfeeding.
Devices: The breast implant can be either silicone-filled or saline-filled. The shell can be smooth or textured and the shape can be round or teardrop. There are several advantages and disadvantages of either implant type, texture, and shape. Dr Deigni will help guide you in this decision process during the consultation.
Surgery: Breast augmentation surgery usually takes about an hour to complete under general anesthesia. The most common way to augment the breast is by inserting an implant under the pec muscle using an inframammary fold (IMF) incision. There are several factors that may influence placing the implant above the pec muscle or using a different incision (such as around the nipple). The decision for which incision to use and where to place the implant will be made at the time of consultation once a thorough history and physical examination has been obtained.
Recovery: Recovery is 3 – 5 days. Patients are placed in soft bra with no underwire in order to help support the breasts. Patients may feel tightness in their muscle and skin for a few weeks as they adjust to the breast implants. The implants typically seem high for about 6 – 8 weeks and once the tissues have adapted and relaxed, the implants will settle into a lower more natural position.
