Eyelid Surgery Improving patient results and care
What does eyelid surgery address? Eyelid surgery addresses the following areas:
- Loose saggy skin in upper eyelids
- Puffiness in the lower eyelids
- Bags in the lower eyelids
- Excess skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelids
Description: During your consultation, Dr. Olivier A. Deigni will examine you thoroughly and evaluate your personal goals in order to provide a plan that will achieve the best outcome for you. The procedure is usually performed under generalized anesthesia but can also be performed under local anesthesia. For the upper eyelids, the incision is made in the crease of the lid. Through this incision, Dr. Olivier A. Deigni removes a combination of skin, muscle, and fat as needed. For the lower eyelid, the incision can be placed either in the conjunctiva (inside the eyelid) or just below the eyelash, depending on the type of procedure. Through these incisions, Dr. Olivier A. Deigni can remove or redrape excess fat, remove excess skin and or muscle as needed. During the lower eyelid surgery, there is an opportunity for facial rejuvenation using fat that has been harvested from another part of the body.
Surgery: The procedure takes 1 – 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
Recovery: To help reduce swelling and bruising, we recommend keeping the head elevated as much as possible over the first 3 – 5 days after surgery. Sutures are removed around 5 – 7 days. You may resume exercise at about three weeks.
